Overview of the Wine
Bodegas Frontonio was created in 2008 by three friends from Aragón, Fernando Mora, aspirant Master of Wine, Mario López, oenologist from Bodegas Borsao, and Francisco Latasa, lawyer and international trade expert.

The aim of Bodegas Frontonio is to dignify the area of Valdejalón and its vineyards, mainly planted with old Grenache, and with a continental-Mediterranean climate. In total, they directly manage around 50 hectares, with organic certification since 2017. Most part of the vineyards are located in the surroundings of Épila. They have different ages, exposures, altitudes and soil types. The climate is continental-Mediterranean with scarce rainfall (200-500 l/m2/year), 300 hours of sun per year, and days with a lot of wind, also called “Cierzo”.

Frontonio El Casetero is a wine made in a cooperative in D.O. Campo de Borja, where they rent part of the winery and buy the grapes from the cooperative winegrowers themselves. 100% Grenache, harvested by hand and vinified in cement deposits. It is aged for 4 months in oak barrels.

91 Points – Ian Blackburn
Each year the wines of Frontonio continue to impress me, the value, the quality, the focus – seems to continue to improve.  This 2020 is a delight and I can’t recommend it any higher!  A fresh, focused, juicy wine with elevated quality marks. On the nose, the intense aromas of ripe red plums and berries pops; spice and earth notes follow in the most subtle and elegant fashion.  This lighter bodied red will take nicely to a chill but also shows really well with food as it has great freshness and acidity.   Color 12.5/15, Aroma 22.5/25, Body 22/25 Overall 34/35 – purity and focus – super clean winemaking – lovely any time.
